Maritime Protected Area Platamuni
Steep and unreachable coast, exceptional landscape and infinite high seas draw attention to the Natural Resort Platamuni, as a very special site in the Mediterranean. The area of the resort which stretches on 28,522 km of the coast of Montenegro, represents the part of the seaside together with the shore between the Bay of Trašte, Cape of Žagubica in the northwest and Cape Platamuni, close to the Ploče beach in the southeast. The protection of this part of the coast secured the surviving conditions and long-term protection of a great number of animal and plant species and their habitats, on the surface of about 1 087,13 hectares.
Maritime Protected Area Katič
In the central part of the Montenegrin coast, 35,808km long area from Cape Skočiđevojka to the end of the Maljevik lagoon belongs to the natural resort Katič. The area of the unique natural and cultural landscape on more than 2500 hectares of surface represents a main habitat for protected and ecologically significant maritime and coastal species and habitats. Together with the islands Mali Katič (the Church of Holly Sunday) and Veliki Katič, the resort stands as an example of a special relationship forged between the local inhabitants and visitors and a rare phenomenon for nature enthusiasts during the summer tourist season.
Maritime Protected Area Old Ulcinj
At the sea gate of Montenegro, we are welcomed by the mystical beauty of the natural resort Stari Ulcinj which, on the surface of 929,16 hectares, from the south side of the Karastanov Cape to the north end of the beach Valdanos in the south, have taken care of the values of the area for centuries. On the 17,62 km long stretch, the submarine cultural heritage forms an unbreakable bond with the land heritage just as it is interconnected with protected maritime, coastal and inland species and habitats. The area was named after the island Stari Ulcinj which is located in the central part of the protected area and guards the secrets of living of the local inhabitants from the south part of the Montenegrin Coast.
Marshland Protected Area And Natural Resort “Tivatska solila”
The special natural resort Tivatska Solila is located in the marshland of the shore and Tivat bay and takes up a surface of about 150 hectares. This resort was established in 2008 in order to protect rare, reduced and endangered plant and animal species, predominantly avifauna and plant communities. Tivatska Solila is one of the last remaining habitats of the halophyte vegetation of the eastern part of the Adriatic and one of the key points of biodiversity in the migratory Adriatic Flyway.
