The city of Bar is an example of an extraordinary blend of history and progressive way of living. On one hand, the Old Town is a genuine archeological site and, on the other hand, the new town is depicted by the modern edifices, broad boulevards and dynamic energy of the cosmopolitan city.
Bar is well known for its historical places, interesting monuments, abundant vegetation, sandy and gravel beaches. The most curious things are numerous olive groves and, above all, we stand proudly in front of the Old Olive Tree in Mirovica which is considered to be one of the oldest in Europe.
Apart from the fact that Bar is the biggest port in Montenegro, there is a number of interesting sites, beaches and curiosities in its vicinity that one shouldn’t fail to visit.
Queen’s Beach in Bar
The Montenegrin queen Milena’s favorite beach, close to Čanj, will enchant you with its warm sand. It is surrounded by sediment rocks and reachable only from the sea but we are sure the crystal sea and the overall feeling will make up for your effort.
Čanj
If you like pearls, you will adore this beach whose mother-of-pearls color of gravel irresistibly resemble this precious commodity. That is precisely the reason why this part of coast is called the pearl coast. It is 1100 meters long, easily accessible and in the vicinity of Bar. Behind the beach, there are hotels, restaurants, cafes, all circled by pines, cypresses and Mediterranean herbs.
Maljevik
The beach is 330 meters long, well organized and possesses all the necessary infrastructure. Partly rocky, partly made of gravel, behind it there are fragrant pines that provide natural shade even on the sunniest days of summer. It is situated north of Sutomore, close to the Black Cape. Its rocky sea bottom makes it a favorite among scuba-divers.
Štrbine
Situated on a hundred meters long stretch, this is a peaceful gravel beach where you can find therapeutic mud apart from the crystal sea water. Find your peace in Štrbine!
Sutomorska Beach
Sutomorska city beach, 1200 meters long, is one the most visited beaches on the Montenegrin coast. Along the entire beach, there are a great number of restaurants and cafes which make the beach popular, as well as the special kind of sand considered to be beneficial in the treatment of rheumatism.
Red Beach
Small and somewhat mystical, the Red Beach is located in the lagoon hidden between Bar and Sutomore. Although it’s only 50 meters long, the red color of the sand made it popular and different. Come visit Red Beach and become a witness to its authentic beauty.
Žukotrlica
Visiting this beach is also an opportunity to learn something new. This gravel beach on the coast of Bar’s neighborhood Šušanj is 1000 meters long and was named after the wild plant žukva – a type of Mediterranean bush that used to be soaked in the seawater to make it bland and prepared for weaving. You will definitely notice it for its color and pleasant scent.
Topolica – The City Beach of Bar
In the very center of Bar, next to the city pedestrian path, there is a city beach covered with small pebbles gravel and sand, 750 meters long. Leaning on the beach, there are sports courts where sports events are often organized.
Veliki pijesak
In Dobre Vode settlement, south towards Ulcinj, there is a 380 meters long beach with small grain gravel, sand and turquoise clean sea water. This beach attracts both families with children as well as young people since the beach discos offer spectacular nightlife.
Utjeha
Submarine springs of fresh water, scent of olives mixed with therapeutic air make an air-spa in Utjeha. Combined sandy and gravel beach is 200 meters long and its diverse submarine world creates an adventure for all scuba-diving fans.
